17) He thought to himself. What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.

18) “Then he said. This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.

19) And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy: eat, drink and be merry.”

20) “But God said to him. You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?

21) “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

8) “Sir, the man replied, leaves it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it.

9) If it bears fruit next year, fine! Then cut it down.”

17) After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.

                     MARK CHAPTER 4

                     VERSE, 10, 11, 12

10) When he was alone, the twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables.

11) He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables

12) So that, they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding: otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!”

9) If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you. Give this person your seat. Then humiliated, you will have to take the least important place.

10) But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, Friend, move up to a better place. Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.

5) And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders.

6) And goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says. Rejoice with me: I have found my lost sheep.

7) I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

4) “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.”

9) “But the olive tree answered. Should I give up my oil, by which both gods and humans are honored, to hold sway over the trees?

10) “Next, the trees said to the fig tree. Come and be our king.

11) “But the fig tree replied. Should I give up my fruit, so good and sweet, to hold sway over the trees?

12)”Then the trees said to the vine. Come and be our King.

13) “But the vine answered. Should I give up my wine, which cheers both gods and humans, to hold sway over the trees?

15) “The thornbush said to the trees. If you really want to anoint me King over you, come and take refuge in my shade: but if not, then let fire come out of the thornbush and consume the cedars of Lebanon!
